We are born, we grow, we live, and we die in specific places. Spaces that welcome us, surround us and, silently, become part of our experience of being in the world. Our lives are finite. The life of places seems not to be. They remain while countless lives arrive, depart, stay, or simply pass through. They are discreet witnesses to our existence, revealing themselves through their scents, colours, textures, light and atmosphere. But a place is never only what we see. Each person arrives carrying their own story, state of mind, memories and way of seeing. In the encounter between what a place contains and what we bring with us, a unique and unrepeatable experience emerges.

We inhabit places and, at the same time, places inhabit us. Something of them remains in our eyes, on our skin, in our memory. And we, too, leave behind an invisible trace: an emotion, a story, an instant that becomes part of all the lives that place has held and will continue to hold. To travel is to enter into that exchange. It is to discover that, beyond geography, culture or borders, there are gestures, emotions and ways of inhabiting the world that feel deeply familiar. Looking at other places can therefore become a way of recognising ourselves.

PLACES is born from this way of seeing. The photographs do not seek to describe territories or create an inventory of destinations. They seek to connect them through emotions, textures, colours, silences and presences. Distant places can share the same feeling. Spaces that will never meet geographically can coexist within the same human experience. Because perhaps the true borders are not between places, but in the way we choose to see them.
